Indiana is a U.S. state renowned for its farmland, the famous auto race, famous Indianapolis 500  organized at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The capital city of Indianapolis is peppered with theatres and galleries, Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Canal Walk promenade. Surely the city has so much to offer if you are a tourist. To the northeast lies the beautiful city of Fort Wayne dotted with 1928 Embassy Theatre and Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory. To the north of the state are incredible Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore attracts adventures and hikers. The University of Notre Dame and Studebaker National Museum the latter being the perfect getaway for auto enthusiasts, as it is home to the vintage wagons and cars. The state also features wilderness areas such as Turkey Run State Park, Hoosier National Forest and the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, where President Abraham Lincoln spent his childhood.

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore: Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore located on the southern shore of Lake Michigan offers a perfect retreat with sandy beaches and track through dunes. Locals go there to enjoy the sunshine, swimming and bird watching.

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis: The museum is one of its kind and also the largest kids museum in the world. The museum showcases a range of exhibition, interactive kid’s program featuring a planetarium, science labs and much more. A great place to go and hang out with kids acquiring valuable knowledge along with entertainment.

Holiday World & Splashin Safari: It is a mixture of amusement and Water Park offering a wide range of rides and various other entertainment options. You can also enjoy various water-based games and rides, plus a plethora of shows. The park also has dining venues and more making it a perfect getaway both for families and kids.

Indianapolis Zoo: The Indianapolis Zoo located in White River State Park has a lot of things to offer besides animal viewing. The park also features various rides, aquariums, petting area, plus it also has a beautiful indoor/ outdoor garden in the zoo.

Indiana Dunes State Park: The beautiful Indiana Dunes State Park offers a spectacular trail through the dunes. The dune dotted park is perfect for hiking, fishing, swimming, birding, cross-country skiing and more. A must visit if you are in Indiana for a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway.

Best Time to Visit Indiana

If you are planning a holiday or visit to Indiana then the best is summer time that is (May-August), when the weather is warm. Winters (November-March) is cold and snowy. Also during local events such as Indianapolis 500 Festival (May) Fort Wayne’s Three Rivers Festival (July) and the Indiana State Fair (August) in Indianapolis, there is a surge in tourist footfall.
